On 1 March 2010, NIEW has conducted a Course on Protocol and Etiquette at Swiss Garden Hotel from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. conducted fully by Datuk Rafiah Salim, Director of NIEW. The main reason why NIEW has organized this course is because of NIEW’s Core Business, where most of the times the officers need to deal with NAM Countries Ambassadors, VIP’s and this needs a relevant knowledge on etiquette for all the officers. Three major topics covered were Introduction to Etiquette, Social Etiquette and Table Etiquette.
During the table etiquette session, a simulation has been conducted where all the participants were given hands-on-training.A total of 47 participants from departments and agencies under the ministry of Women, Family and Community Development participated in the course. This course has been organized to give a clear view to all the officers in NIEW as well as from the Ministry who deals with international agencies and community on way of interaction and formalities that one should follow during a formal function also during social meetings.Other than that, the course was interactive where participants exchanged their opinion and experience with other department officers.
